Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a brand new beginner, somatic yin yoga is guaranteed to offer you something really special and deeply healing.

Ok, but I don’t even know what these words mean!!

Awesome :) I’m glad you found me! I love explaining stuff.

Somatic means “in the body.” Yin means “slow and deep.” Yoga means “a state of mind where you’re focused on your body’s sensations.”

Somatic Yin Yoga is a slow, deep mindful kind of yoga practice where we hold most of the shapes for longer than you would in a typical hatha yoga or vinyasa yoga class.

I treat each somatic yin yoga posture as a meditation.

A little 1-5 minute meditation.

That means while you’re in a yoga “pose” - the purpose is not to “perform” or look good - but to feel what you feel and become aware of how the shape is affecting you.

Sometimes you’ll notice that the shape is really stretching your hips (nice!).

Sometimes you’ll notice that the shape is making you really angry (totally normal!).

As your teacher and your guide, I will help you stay present with whatever comes up and breathe through it.

I’ll also remind you that you never have to stay past your edge of comfort, and that you can come out of the postures at any time.

You might be surprised to find that somatic yin yoga is a lot harder than it sounds.

Sure - there’s no sweating or handstands - but being still with yourself and allowing feelings and sensations to arise without judging them - that’s some deep stuff.

So what are you waiting for? You love a good challenge, right?

Your body and your mind will thank you. I promise.
